V-Fit Tornado Air Rower, Great value for money

I’ve been a regular gym user for the past 25 years and have only used the concept2 design of rower. I didn’t have £800+ to spend so did lots of research before deciding what to buy. Having read all the reviews i was still pleasantly surprised at the quality of this rower. It is well built and sturdy. I managed to unpack and put together on my own in under a couple of hours. I am used to rowing on level 10 on the concept design but i still find this rower harder. Having read some of the other reviews about it not being hard enough, maybe i have put it together incorrectly. It certainly gives me an excellent workout and i would say i’m fairly fit.

Great but needs a softer landing when you hit the top when retracting (does that make sense?) – there is a little bar underneath that stops you going all the way to the top. Put something rubber on this to make the landing soft. Also – would be great to have some gears.

V-fit Tornado Air Rower

  • Club style, speed proportionate air resistance chain drive rower with canted, wide reach row bar
  • Contoured polyurethan anatomically designed seat with bearing mounted upper and lower seat guide rollers
  • Pivoting, oversize PVC footplates with two-position mount and adjustable velcro style footstraps
  • Three-screen, six-function exercise monitor
  • Maximum user weight is 115 kg

Product works fine and easy to use with good display feedback. Pruduct was delivered on time, assembly was a little tricky as i have big hands so needed a little assistance to speed up the process but i dont think its impossible for one person to put it together. Product works fine and easy to use with good display feedback. Im 6’2 and its just about ok for my height but if your taller it may be an issue. And to those who rated the product down for the noisy, its a air ressistance machine, what did you expect.

One of the best things i have bought. I shopped around before buying this rowing machine and i must say i’m perfectly happy with it 4 weeks on. I do 300+ strokes before breakfast and another 300+ strokes in the evening and sometimes in the afternoon. I’ve set it up in a spare bedroom and watch tv with a headphones whilst exercising because the fan is quite loud. I’m just in the recommended maximum weight for this rower (115kg) and it started creaking quite badly to start with, i re-tightened all the nuts with the supplied tools, especially the ones at the back and now all that creaking has gone. Overall this rowing machine is unbeatable value for the price which is nearly a fifth of the price of a concept2. I’m new to this sort of exercise but i’ve found that i actually look forward to it whilst watching the news.

I have just put this rower together today and i’m very happy with the build quality, for the price it’s superb. I then decided to give the rower a work out and to my surprise it was excellent . The resistance got harder the more i pulled, i’m 15st and would say i’m quite strong in my arms but this machine put me through my paces. After 20 minutes i was soaking with sweat and my upper body was tired. I’m very pleased with this machine at the moment and i will gradually build my distance and time up. Great buy and quick delivery via amazon.

V-fit Tornado Air Rower : Good if you’re tall (provided you). I’m 6’5″, and this rower has been fine for me, once i removed a seemingly pointless nut and bolt near the back of the main shaft (visible on the picture, about 15cm in from the back of it) that the seat otherwise banged against each time i pushed back. (by the way, i know that ‘removing a nut and bolt’ seems pretty dumb advice, but it really doesn’t have a purpose- it’s not actually holding 2 bits together or anything. )anyway, i’ve had it for 6 months, it’s still good, it’s my first rower so i’m not sure how the noise compares to others (but i wasn’t expecting it to be quiet), and it’s helped get me fit, which is what really counts. If you’re gonna spend this kind of money though, i would definitely recommend you also spend a little on some noise reduction headphones to listen to an ipod/watch a dvd while you use it, as it’s so loud that you’d need very understanding neighbours if you intend to turn tv up loud enough to hear it over the rower.

  1. Very good, chain was off intitially but relatively easy to put back ob. Very good, make sure that the chain is properly fixed. Undo the 2 screws and remove the cover to replace it.

I’ve found this to be an excellent rower. I don’t think that the fan is particularly noisy. I tend to train by heart rate and use separate app that gives me rate and time so i don’t generally take any notice of the lcd screens, however they do contain a wealth of information but the screens could do with being back lit. Resistance is set by how hard/fast you pull the handle, the harder/faster you pull the more resistance. Unless you are an avid club rower you will not out perform the machine. The handle is fully padded so it allows you to try different holds. Assembly was fairly straight forward. Just take your time and make sure you connect the right leads and that the wires don’t get caught.

      1. Delivered on time, 30 minutes to assemble, good instructions and all the tools and fixings you need to complete in the box. Build quality is excellent for the price point, it works as advertised, very good rowing movement, i am 5’10” can see taller people would struggle. It has no adjustment for resistance other than the speed and pace you set, which does allow for extended towing times which is a plus. The chain was quite dry when delivered (expect from storage) so can understand noise comments, applying the correct chain lubricant makes this go away and the noise is on par with similar equipment and i can hear my music. Over all very pleased with the purchase it’s not a concept2 and that’s the reason it only has 4 stars.

Had it only a week but great so far. Ignore those who complain that its hard to assemble – it really is not but i was fearful after reading other reviews. One person can do it easily even tho instructions recommend 2 for some stages. Chain slips off sometimes but its easy to put back on once chain guard removed. Also, dirt can get onto exposed rails which makes for bumpy ride until wiped clean.

Good middle resistance/drag/damper. Great for the price albeit a little noisy. I bought this to replace a second hand york air rower that broke (and the parts were half the price of this rower). I’ve been using it for 4 months and just had my first row on a concept2 to compare. I’d say the inherent (unchangeable) drag/damper on the tornado is somewhere around a 5 or 6 on the concept2, which means a nice balance between strength and cardio training. The calorie read out on the tornado though is way off (it’s a very lousy estimate). The tornado says 86 calories when my heart rate monitor days 335.

  8. It’s not that bad, especially when considering the money but do not. It’s not that bad, especially when considering the money but do not expect a good rower here.

It’s not a concept2 but it is only one fifth of the price. . It’s not a concept2 machine but then it is only £180 and not £860. For everyday exercising it is fine. There is no adjustment on the air volume so to make things more difficult and get the heart pumping faster you just have to row faster. In reality the default air setting for this machine is about a 4 or 5 setting on a concept2 but because the flywheel is lighter it slows up more quickly giving the feel of a row boat rather than a scull. It was relatively easy to assemble once you realised that the numbering system used in the instructions did not match the numbers given to the parts, but as many of them were already assembled into the machine it was not too difficult to identify what was what from the description. You need to be careful that the wires connecting the monitor to the frame and the flywheel do not chafe on the chain. I secured mine away from the chain using gaffer tape. The only thing i miss is not being able to connect a bluetooth pulse transmitter to the v-fit monitor, but for £180 you can’t have everything.

I wasn’t expecting the home assembly to be so complex. I wasn’t expecting the home assembly to be so complex, and the instruction manual identifies 98 parts. Needless to say, i’ve gone wrong somewhere and seat sensor isn’t connecting with the monitor so doesn’t display distance, speed etc. Assembly needed by someone who really knows what they’re doing (and i’ve built full kitchens).
