Ultrasport Racer 700M/800A Home Trainer : Well made, easy assembly, good programs.( Note the handlebar position)

6-point review of a 4-star bike. Assembly – instructions were pretty clear, took about 45 minutes to assemble. Seat – comfortable and backwards/forwards adjustment very useful. My previous bike had only height adjustment. Build quality – above average sturdiness and stability feel. Portable by average male (slides easily on carpet). Features – has all necessary features especially pulse sensor in handlebars. Time distance and speed readouts large and clear. ‘gear’ change – very accessible and easy, distinctive clicks. Smoothness of ride – acceptable, but not quite as much as heavy professional bikes with a drivebelt.

Well made, easy assembly, good programs. ( note the handlebar position). Ultrasport exercise bikes range from the entry-level basic folding f-bike to the more demanding and versatile racer series which includes this 800a model. Bikes in the racer series are ergonomically designed with a lean-forward position generally associated with a road bike, and the `a’ models have a more advanced computer console featuring a number programs which automatically adjust the pedal resistance to simulate hills and flats. Ultrasport bikes are designed and built for home use rather than professional gym activity, which means the machine can be made lighter, more compact and less costly than those subjected to the rigours of public use. Assembly can be carried out by one person and is straightforward. Two basic tools are required, a spanner and an allen (hex) key, both of which are supplied. The instructions (english, german, french and italian) are concisely written with clear diagrams in an a4 sized booklet. Most persons should be able to have the bike from box to fully assembled in an hour to an hour and a half. Weight of bike fully assembled i measured at 28kg. Stability of the bike is excellent, even when standing up and pedalling hard, with 50cm wide sturdy feet to prevent lateral movement during use.

Easy to build, quiet to use, feature-packed home exercise bike. . I received this free through the amazon vine reviewer programme. The first step, assembly, proved to be a fairly straightforward matter. The bulk of the components arrive pre-built. There’s no confusingly enormous bag of component parts to sift through, either, as the majority of fixings arrive pre-attached to the parts of the bike they’re going to ultimately end up holding in place. This did lend itself to a little head-scratching initially, as there is a small bag of fixings (attachments for the stabiliser bars and handlebars) which seems radically lacking when compared to the components list in the manual. It doesn’t take long to spot that the manufacturers have pre-positioned these, though. And what a good idea that is, much easier than scrabbling about struggling to identify small parts. The bike comes supplied with the tools needed for assembly: a spanner and a double-ended allen key-cum- cross-head screwdriver. Build quality seems pretty reasonable, though there’s quite a lot of plastic and the ultrasport decal on the front of the bike i received had been badly applied and was peeling off at arrival. Here are the specifications for the Ultrasport Racer 700M/800A Home Trainer:

  • Extra large, light up multi-functional display, computer controlled operation, 12 programs are controlled fully automatically with 16 resistance levels
  • Storage for up to 9 users with 20 customisable settings
  • H.R.C pulse controlled training, watt mode (10-150 watts), body fat measurement
  • High-quality, comfortable saddle – can be optimally adjusted vertically and horizontally to suit all users
  • Seamlessly adjustable triathlon handlebar with hand pulse sensors

Good quality and performance. I have come to like the ultrasport brand recently, i have had plenty of others to compair these bikes to in the past. This particular one is great, its heavy but not overly so so i can move it by myself and it is battery operated so i can use it anywhere i want inside or out as i dont need to be close to a socket. This has no fixed programmes but i never use those anyway but does give a calory used estimate ,distance and speed ect, readout , the saddle on these is a good selling point not only is it the most comfortable one i have sat on but its also adjustable front and back as well as up and down , a real positive point for us taller or shorter people. The overall quality of these bikes is a feature that cannot be ignored ,they feel secure and sturdy and will last years in use, they are also quiet in use , good value.

Excellent price of kit really easy to put together if you read the instructions properly. I am not to sure if the calorie count is correct but other than that the seat is very comfortable and the bike is sturdy and straight forward to use.

A solid 3 months of near silent operation with a lovely range of resistance levels. Unfortunately it now appears that the item in question magnets now grind on each other every so often, almost at random, generating a large grating noise. For the price it is cheaper than my local gym by a long way. And even with the grating noise still works.

Excellent quality, good features and a solid workout. I have been meaning to do more exercise for a while and so jumped at the opportunity to review a demonstrated model of this ultrasport 800a racer. What i like about this home racer is that it replicates the similar riding experience you would expect in a gym – it’s solid, quiet, has various programmes and features, fully adjustable seat and bars and is comfortable. Assembly is straight forward with most components simply slotting together and then bolt assembly into place. The electronic control panel has neatly concealed wires and you don’t even need any tools the bike comes with a mini phillips screwdriver, allen key and spanner. You can easily adjust the seat both in height and distance by simply pulling forward a brake and then slotting in place where required, this replicates the type of gym bike settings and is easy and quick to do. The pedals are solid with shoe plastic grips which are effective and adjustable. When fully assembled the racer didn’t take as much space as i thought it would, in fact it is fairly compact. The racer is sturdy and even myself who is fairly chunky, could comfortable pedal in a standing position whilst holding the bars, replicating a road bike position and i really did push it hard. The racer was solid and perfectly safe with no risk of toppling.

A quiet bike with lots of features – fab. I’ve enjoyed using this exercise bike so far. Before this bike i was using a kettler sinto p which i bought a couple of years ago and which i have cycled thousands of (virtual) kilometers on. It’s an old friend and played an instrumental part in my weight loss, so i was interested to see how the two bikes compare. They’re both similar in terms of price and functionality. Since i got the ultrasport racer 800a i have used it in anger for a few weeks and am a big fan. The riding position is somewhat more leaning forwards that on the kettler but, that said, the seat can be adjusted forwards, backwards and also the tilt of the saddle can be adjusted. At first i found that i was being pushed forward too much, but a quick adjustment of the saddle meant that all was well. The position of the handlebars can also be adjusted meaning that it should be possible to find a comfortable position. Whilst we’re talking about riding position and saddle it’s worth noting that this bike may not be suitable for smaller people.

The secret is in the flywheel or not in this case. . Now call me stupid but a really good indicator of quality exercise equipmnt is the weight. I have a lifefitness hr9500 cross trainer and a full blown treadmill and rowing machine. In all cases they are over 100kg’s in weight and the treadmill for example is 180kg and the cross trainer is over 120kg’s. You see there’s two important things a good pice of gym equipment needs.

Having previously bought the http://www. Uk/york-perform-210-exercise-bike/dp/b0085wvw2a/ i was interested to see how the ultrasport compared. My york was bought almost a year ago now in the black friday sales so was slightly cheaper than this one is currently and overall while this bike is perfectly decent the york has a few extra features which i prefer. The ultrasport required emptying from its box to carry the individual pieces upstairs as it is very heavy. I assembled it myself which took less than an hour and it does have detailed instructions to make this very easy. The fiddly parts are the straps on the pedals and trying to attach the tension rod (make sure this is on 8) – another pair of hands would really come in handy there to hold the front bar. One thing i really wanted to compare was the bike seat as the york’s seat is the most uncomfortable thing i’ve ever sat on so requires a seat cover.

      1. Solid constuction and comfort???. A really really solid build the photo on the blurb has a picture of a person using it stood up and yes you can do it ,i have tried it to see and its that solid. The unit is easy to set up although a extra pair of hands can come in useful it is not required as i put this together myself with the tools provided (spanner and allen key/screwdriver). Reading the instructions for assembly it said to first check all the screws ect were there , i couldn’t see them all but proceeded to check through the parts and found some were in the frame and some were in the back of the computer top. The feet rails are great with easy to engage wheels on the back so the unit is easy to move should you require to and the back rail has feet that as you twist them enables you to level them on either side. When assembled the unit looks as sturdy as any gym quality bike but be aware that these are probably not for very small people as i am 5 ft 11 and i have the saddle only one notch up from the lowest setting that said the seat is infinitly adjustable ,up and down and forwards and back and is very wide and padded for a fairly if not sofa comfortable ride. The riding position is also the key to if you would buy this unit or the 1000a bike that is also available from ultrasport on amazonhttp://www. Uk/gp/product/b00heysm5kthis bike is a good buy if you like a more upright cycling position where as the 1000a has a more racing bike bent over riding position with proper racing bike handle bars.
