Reebok Unisex ZR10 Hrc Treadmill : Very pleased with the service

Bought the zr10 just over 2 years ago. It has been used heavily and has been reliable apart from some condensation affecting the console electrics. Reebok sent a replacement immediately and this was easy to install (customer support was excellent). The 24 defined programmes were very useful initially but now i tend to use the 3 user defined programmes which i have geared for interval training and hill sprints. The running track is easily big enough and the cushioned impact much appreciated. The speed and inclines should be easily sufficient for most athletes and have sometimes used it for a treadmill vo2 max test. The fan is not strong so have a separate fan for use in warmer weather. I have not used the music connection.

I’ve had this treadmill for a couple of years now and i love it — it’s one of the best things i’ve ever bought. I think i paid over £700 for mine so it’s quite a bit cheaper now. My main (but only minor) gripes with it are:1) it beeps three times at the end of every ‘stage’ and, while this is useful, it seems very loud if you’re trying to get a late or early session in and don’t want to disturb the rest of the household too much. It would be better if there was an option to switch the beeping off. 2) the distance counter is (was?) only in kilometres so you have to convert to miles, if that’s what you want. 3) the ‘user defined’ programmes are at the end of the (24) in-built ones so, as i use my own programmes, it takes a little while to select them (because you have to select through each of the in-built programmes). Basically, i have to press the ‘select programme’ button 25 times to get to my own prog (or hold down the select button while it cycles through them and beeps loudly for every programme). 4) i’ve never been able to get the ‘pulse monitor’ working effectively (it mostly just registers 72-bpm). I did try a polar heart monitor a couple of times which seemed to work ok. Here are the specifications for the Reebok Unisex ZR10 Hrc Treadmill:

  • 15 levels of incline
  • 24 pre-set programmed
  • LCD console display
  • MP3 connectivity with built-in speakers
  • Heart rate monitor via hand grip pulse sensor on handlebars

I bought a zr10 about a week ago having never owned a treadmill before so have little to compare it with. It has a decent size belt of both width and length being 45 x 135 cm. Some other machines in this price range have a smaller belt area but it seems to me despite my lack of treadmill experience that the bigger the running area the better. I’ve tried three of the 24 built in basic programmes and they follow exactly the pattern the instructions indicate. They work by having 20 equal time stages for each programme. These stages can last as long as required because you set the total workout time at the start and it then divides the total by 20 to give the stage time. For example if you set it to 20 minutes each stage would be 1 minute. I’ve also tried simple non programme use where it just counts the elapsed time, distance and calories for as long as you want and you can adjust the speed and powered incline yourself from the console or from the secondary controls on the handlebar ends and again this worked as intended.

Very pleased with this treadmill – agree with all the positives and negatives already listed by others. One minor gripe – at the end of the session it quickly clears all the sessions stats on the screen, so you have to be quick to read how many calories you just consumed, etc. Seems odd that the electronics cannot maintain the display until switched off or another session is started. A minor point – otherwise very happy and would recommend.
