Marcy Foldable Magnetic Rower, PureFitness & Sports Foldable Magnetic Rower with Hand Pulse

Very pleased with my purchase. . Well made piece of equipment. Put it together by myself in 45 minutes (and i’m an oldie) very clear instructions, and all pieces present.

Don’t expect too much from the computer. As a rower the product is fine although the seat is a little uncomfortable. The foot rests are a bit small, i only have size 8 feet and they only just fit in the rests. Also the velcro straps are difficult to reach. Maybe it will become easier as i get thinnerthe main problem is the ridiculous computer that constantly cycles between functions making it useless. I contacted the company and they said that this is normal for this product?. It also bleeps every stroke which is very irritating. I have taken the batteries out and use the stopwatch on my phoneoverall not bad but really, ditch the computer or upgrade it .

First class product and service. I chose this item mainly on the strength of the reviews it received so it seems only fair to add my opinion to help others decide. Delivery was astonishingly good: i ordered at 3pm on a weekday and received my package at 9. 30 the following morning with standard delivery. I began to doubt my choice when i looked at the assembly instructions – at first glance they seemed dauntingly complex, but as i followed them i realised they were a model of clarity explaining exactly which part went where and in what order. Much easier to follow than the over-simplified diagrams and arrows which most assembly instructions use, and i had it all fitted together and running in roughly half an hour. My only minor criticism of the instructions is that for the display they simply consist of ‘poke it until it does what you want’ – but isn’t that what we all do, regardless?the machine itself feels pleasantly solid and looks as if it’s built to last. I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks and as i was very out of condition initially it hasn’t had a huge amount of work yet, but the guarantee is reassuring and it’s performed faultlessly to date. It’s fairly easy to stow away, two bolts to slide in and out and one large screw with a very large, easy to hold head to take in and out are all it takes to switch from store to use positions and when it’s folded up the footprint is surprisingly small: it only takes up about as much cupboard space as a couple of large vacuum cleaners.

Quality all the way rowing machine. Prompt delivery dead easy to put together and a quality machine overall. Very happy with this purchase.

I had a good look around the market place with some really eye opening prices for a rower and decided to give this one a go. On opening the box i found it to be very well made with a minimum of parts to be put together although it would help if there are two of you to unbox it as the parts are awkward to get out. It took about 30 minutes to put it together, which was quite simple although the instructions could be a bit better for connecting the main seat bar to the wheel unit, and there was no instructions were to put the grease .But it is best putting it on both top rail and bottom rail of seat movement rack, and use your finger to lightly grease the rails. After it was greased the seat unit moved perfectly with very little noise. I am 105kg so when i came to fitting the foot straps i felt this could have been better quality, and easier to tighten/loosen when you sat on the unit, however this is really the only gripe i have about this rower. On exercise it was easy to use and the display kept me informed of what i was achieving. I do beleive the calorie burn count to be way wrong and if this is important to you then dont buy it. I have used it for a few hours now and find it is achieving what i wanted the rower to do, which is basically help me exercise and lose a few pounds.

  1. Fault the prompt delivery of this item which was excellent. Unfortunately this machine seems to be designed more. I can’t fault the prompt delivery of this item which was excellent. Unfortunately this machine seems to be designed more for men than women, the footplate will not hold my size 5 feet securely and no matter how tight i fasten the velcro they are constantly slipping out while rowing which is very frustrating. I also prefer the seat to come further forward so i can get a stronger leg workout but there is a fixed bracket which stops the seat doing this. For someone with longer legs this would probably be fine but for me i am not getting enough of a workout. The build quality seems fine and the seat is comfortable. . Just not a small womans rower.

  2. Broke after 2. 5 years, could not be repaired. . 5 years but had good use out of it until then. Then something that sounded like the spring from a clockwork toy snapping and unraveling happened and the resistance tape (?) was no longer pulled back in. They told me it would cost more to repair than buy a new one. Maximum setting used was 6/8 and was doing 3000+ strokes a week for quite a while before it happened.

    1. Probably not the most accurate of readings and you have to read the instructions carefully to figure out what they all mean, but it is well made comfortable and for the money i doubt you could get much better. I use it regularly and had no problems with it.

    1. The rower is sturdy and the folding action is smooth. Construction (on my own) took about half an hour. If you can construct flat-pack furniture then this won’t present you with any significant difficulties. Once assembled, the rower is sturdy and the folding action is smooth, although it is heavy (approx 30kg) so don’t expect to be able to move it easily. The pulse meter is rubbish (i know i’m unfit but if my resting pulse was really 170bpm i expect i’d be dead by now). Noise levels are acceptable and the seat moves smoothly. The handle is connected to the flywheel by a fairly strong fabric ribbon which doesn’t feel like it’ll break any time soon. The instructions are a bit sparse but they’re free of chinglish.

It has definitely improved my fitness over this period and i feel i am somewhere close to the happy medium i desire. I’m 65 in september and have had my machine for about 4 weeks now. I purchased it because my work prevents me from spending any time at a gym. The only other exercise i get is table tennis once a week. I needed something that i could exercise at home with that would improve my fitness and maintain it to an acceptable level. I started off at level 5 for 20 minutes every other day and have worked myself up to level 8 for 30 minutes. Half an hour is about all i have of a morning before i go out to work so my next objective is to increase my strokes per minute. It has definitely improved my fitness over this period and i feel i am somewhere close to the happy medium i desire. I feel the resistance scale could be higher but otherwise i’m happy with the machine. Worth the price and i wouldn’t hesitate, armed with the experience i’ve had, to make the same choice of purchase again.

Easy to assemble and ready to use. Easy to assemble and ready to use. The beeping noise is quite soft and does not really disrupt my workout.

      1. It’s smooth and very easy to fit up and use. Really neat machine, it’s smooth and very easy to fit up and use. It folds away into a fairly small area and folds down to use again easily.

Like it but it makes a bip with every movement. Like it but it makes a bip with every movement and that drives me crazy. I called to see if it can be switched off. I would have to switch off the exercise monitor altogether. So i decided to keep it as it is and wear headphones when the bip gets too annoying. It is otherwise a good rowing machine.

    1. Overpriced – but does the job. . I bought this rower after reading previous reviews and basically wanting to get fitter and tone myself up a bit. Coming in at under £300, i was impressed with the ‘user weight’ being reasonable and didn’t expect it to be of gym standards or quality. The box it came in – although quite heavy, was well packaged and took a while to get into with the amount of tape used to seal it up. Putting the machine together for me wasn’t too much of an issue, but i can understand how some people may struggle a bit – maybe a good idea to have a friend handy. The instructions are there purely as a guideline – i found common sense prevailed and had the rower set up and ready for her maiden voyage in around 25 – 30 minutes. . Stopping every few minutes to admire my work and congratulate myself. Attaching the long piece on which the seat slides along for me was the trickiest, but i discovered that by putting the rower on it’s side, the screws were somehow easier to fit. I’ve had the rower exactly one week now with 20 – 30 mins use per day, and it seems to be withstanding the pace pretty well. The tension knob offers good resistance – i’m finding, as a beginner that 3/4 is providing a good workout – obviously those in better shape than myself will appreciate the higher levels.

  10. Excellent machine and great value. Bought this recently to try and offset the onset of middle age spreadthe machine itself is very easy to assemble and i was up and running (er rowing) in about 40 minsit quickly made me realise how out of shape i had become and after the first session i could feel the burn in all the right placesas another reviewer stated here the beep from the mini computer read out is a little bit annoying but i quickly fixed that. It does exactly what it should and i am so pleased i bought it and did not spend 4 times as much on the concept. My waist is tightening and my arms and chest are getting stronger and it is helping with my lung capacity too. Not sure why there are reviews stating build quality as it is excellent and assembled properly its a very robust and proper bit of kit. I am 6’4” and was 105kg (already down 5kg) and i can see this in combination with my new cycling regime helping me get to my target of 90kg by the end of the year. The vary levels of resistance allow me to crank it up as my fitness improvesthe seller is also superb. The large locking bolt that you use to secure it was slightly bent in the box when it arrived and although it was not stopping me using the machine i always like everything to be perfect. They answered their email immediately and without any quibbles just sent me a new one out straight away. So if you want to get fit for a low price from a great reseller then this machine cannot come more highly recommended.
